What is SOS?
SOS, or Songwriters' Original
Showcase, is a new, one-of-a-kind acoustic performance venue in the Philadelphia area for original music. SOS is sponsored by Slot One Studio
and presented at Act II Playhouse,
both located in Ambler, PA, a 30 minute drive
from center city Philadelphia.
Performances
SOS shows will feature 5- 8 songwriters-performers-recording artists, each performing 20 to 30 minute sets of
original music.
(There's an
intermission around 8:30 PM; light refreshments available for purchase)
SOS features
songwriters/musicians from the Philadelphia area, as well as touring artists
from all over the country! The venue features solo performances, duos,
as well as 3-4 piece bands.
Future showcases may include
a "Feature Artist," along with opening songwriters performing their
music, "In the Round" performances, or other special songwriter
events.
Music Genres
The venue is suited to acoustic
performances, AAA / variety styles of music, i.e., pop, acoustic rock,
ambient, folk, blues. In short, music that can be performed with an acoustic
guitar or piano.

II Playhouse, a non-profit, professional stage theater, provides the
open stage in a 130+ seat performance theater. Act II Playhouse is across the street from the former Ambler Cabaret, a
once popular national touring stop for bands, artists, and top regional acts.

busses running
every 30 minutes and through 11:30 PM to Philadelphia's Suburban, Market East, and

Recording Studio, a high end recording facility and independent label since 1990,
is coordinating, promoting, and hosting performances.
Shows will be video taped and
rebroadcast on the Internet; performers will be able to obtain digital video
demos of their performances. Plans also include broadcasting performances on
cable TV . All performers must sign a performance
release.
